Palliative care

Treatment goes beyond the medicine itself. Our approach to healthcare is to concentrate on healing the entire person. Doing so requires care, compassion, understanding and teamwork.

The focus of the palliative care department at Sky Lakes Medical Center is to help you find relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of a serious illness, no matter your prognosis. We are committed to improving the quality of life for both you and your family.

Palliative care is different from hospice care, as it is appropriate for all ages of patients and in all stages of serious illness, including those undergoing treatments for curable illnesses and those living with chronic diseases.

We utilize a multidisciplinary approach that relies on the input from a team of doctors, nurses and other specialists to formulate a plan of care that will relieve suffering in all areas of a patient's life, including concerns of a physical, emotional, spiritual and social nature.

To this aim, some of our patient rooms have accommodations that allow for a family member or loved one to stay overnight and be close for support. Within the main building of the medical center, you will also find quiet places that offer sanctuary for private reflection, prayer or meditation.
