Healthy Klamath Seeks Input on Community Health Assessment

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – January 27, 2022 – The Healthy Klamath coalition just released the draft of its 2021 Klamath County Community Health Assessment. Its membership seeks feedback from local residents to finalize the document.

“We create a collaborative assessment every three years on behalf of the community,” said Merritt Driscoll, executive director of the Healthy Klamath organization. “It is the basis for the upcoming 2022 community health improvement plan.”

The electronic document can be found at: https://www.healthyklamath.org/content/sites/klamath/01272022_CHA_DRAFT.pdf.

Feedback can be emailed to info@healthyklamath.org.

A community health assessment, also known as community health needs assessment, refers to a state, tribal, local, or territorial health assessment that identifies key health needs and issues through systematic, comprehensive data collection and analysis.

“The overall hope is that it becomes a document that can be used by our local communities to understand where we were in 2021. It represents a point in time that we can measure against in years to come,” said Driscoll.

Once the document is finalized, Healthy Klamath will begin the community health improvement plan process.

A community health improvement plan is a long-term, systematic effort to address public health problems based on the results of community health assessment activities and the community health improvement process. Locally, the plan is updated every three years.
