August is Golf Month!

If you are looking to improve your fitness, golf might not be top-of-mind, but it is an effective way to boost both your physical and mental health.

Often described as “a good walk, ruined.” Walking an 18-hole course can add more than 8,000 steps to your daily goal and improve your cardiovascular health.

Swinging a club engages core, arms, shoulders, and leg muscles and the repeated motion improves your balance. Physical activity and exposure to the outdoors also improve the quality of your sleep.

Being outdoors reduces stress and the strategic nature of golf can enhance your focus, memory, and problem-solving skills. Exposure to sunlight helps your body produce vitamin D, which supports bone health and immunity.

The slow pace of golf allows you to interact with others, reducing loneliness and improving mood.

Golf has many benefits, even if you’re not Tiger Woods, so consider lessons at one of Basin’s picturesque courses. But, before you join a foursome, be sure to stretch to avoid discomfort, pain, and injury.
