We want to congratulate Kimberly, RN from our Maternal Child Health Department for being selected as one of Oregon’s Outstanding Nurse Preceptors by the Oregon Center of Nursing!

The work of nurse preceptors is vital to our organization, our colleagues and Oregon’s nursing community. Kimberly was nominated by a peer at Sky Lakes based on her commitment to her preceptor role. Below is Kimberly’s nomination:

“Kimberly is a pediatric nurse at Sky Lakes Medical Center, in Klamath Falls. She not only precepts new employees but is a wonderful resource for the entire hospital. We don’t have a huge pediatric inpatient program, but Kim shares her pediatric expertise beyond the walls of our pediatric unit. There have been times a critically ill patient is being cared for in the Emergency Department or the ICU. Our nurses have gone beyond the comfort of the pediatric unit to help stabilize a patient needing a higher level of care.”

A nurse preceptor is an experienced nurse who supervises nursing students and new employees during their clinical rotations and onboarding.

Congratulations Kim, for your nomination! We appreciate your exceptional work as a nurse at Sky Lakes Medical Center.
