Since 2009, when child welfare figures showed Klamath County had twice the rate of child abuse as Oregon and the U.S., CARES has been working to prevent child abuse and neglect with innovative awareness, prevention, and education programs. Contact Klamath-Lake CARES at (541) 274-6289 for more information about these programs, or to schedule a presentation or tour.
At CARES, we believe in fostering a community where every child feels safe and protected. As part of our commitment to preventing child abuse, we proudly collaborate with the Klamath County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition. Together, we work tirelessly to raise awareness throughout the community, particularly during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Through various initiatives, including educational campaigns and community events, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to recognize and report instances of abuse. One such effort is the annual Klamath County Community Symposium held in August, where experts, advocates, and community members come together to engage in meaningful discussions and learning opportunities. By promoting awareness and education year-round, we strive to create a safer, more supportive environment for all children in Klamath County.
