On August 3, 2026 the City of Klamath Falls proclaimed August as “Klamath Rising Month” in recognition of Sky Lakes and Community Partners receiving the Foster G. McGaw Prize.
The proclamation was announced at the August 3, 2026 City Council Meeting. Sky Lakes President and Chief Executive Officer David Cauble and Sky Lakes Community Relations Digital Marketing Manager Jessie Wilkie were present to accept the proclamation.
Klamath Falls Mayor Carol Westfall presented the proclamation, stating “The City of Klamath Falls is proud to be home to a community that values service, collaboration, and the wellbeing of all residents.”
The Foster G McGaw Prize recognizes healthcare organizations that go beyond traditional healthcare to address additional barriers to good health including education, prevention, access, environment, and community connection.
“Sky Lakes and community partners and dedicated residents throughout the Klamath Basin have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to improving the health and quality of life in our community…” said Westfall “… these collective efforts have strengthened access to health care, advanced health and wellness initiatives, supported food security, enhanced parks and public spaces, fostered educational opportunities, and created pathways for individuals and families to thrive.”
The Foster G. McGaw prize was awarded for Klamath Falls’ collaborative work in five focus areas: local food systems and nutrition, education and workforce development, the Wellness Center, tobacco prevention and healthy living, and healthy spaces and community projects.
Sky Lakes President and CEO David Cauble said at the August 3 meeting, “It [The Foster G. McGaw prize] really reflects the work that we have done together as a community and the impact we’ve been able to make on this community.”
