Roger A. Piepenbrink, DO

Biography

Dr. Piepenbrink grew up in California. His father was from Illinois, his mother from New Mexico & Klamath Falls OR. Dr. Piepenbrink says “It has been such a privilege for me to train & practice in the environments of civilian sector & active-duty military.”

His special interests are: Interaction between the endocrine system & human sleep; thyroid disease, osteoporosis, pituitary, adrenal, obesity & diabetes , and such endocrine conditions in pregnancy.

Outside of work, Dr. Piepenbrink enjoys family life, tennis, bicycling, birdwatching, military history, & music.

UNDERGRADUATE & GRADUATE WORK:
California Polytechnic State University , San Luis Obispo, CA, B. S. (Biology) & B. S. (Biochemistry). Postgraduate work at the same institution, M. S. (Biology). Then on to Loma Linda University School of Public Health, Loma Linda, CA for M.P.H .(Nutrition)

MEDICAL EDUCATION: D.O. College of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery, Des Moines University, Des Moines’s IA. Internship: Des Moines General Hospital. Internal Medicine residency Naval Hospital San Diego. Fellowships: (1) Adult Endocrinology, USAF Wilford Hall Medical Center in conjunction with Brooks Army Medical Center, both in San Antonio TX; (2) Sleep Medicine, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland.

BOARD CERTIFICATIONS: (1) Internal Medicine; (2) Adult Endocrinology; (3) Sleep Medicine.

MEDICAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE: General medical officer, Marine Corps Base 29 Palms. Gen. Internist: (1) Navy Hospital Pensacola, (2) Wilford Hall Med Center, (3) Randolph Clinic, Randolph AFB (4) Prineville Oregon where I started my own practice, which included Critical Care Medicine and owning/operating bone density machine ; I had the opportunity to start Adult Endocrinology practice Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV; then practicing the combination of Adult Endo & Sleep Medicine, Wright-Patterson Medical Center, Dayton, OH & Nellis AFB.
