Biography

Matthew Peters, MD is a board-certified family physician with a passion for broad-spectrum, evidence-based, cost-effective, and patient-centered care. He is a firm believer in healthcare as a human right and is a vocal advocate for innovation in primary care. He seeks to provide pragmatic, honest, and individualized care to each of his patients.

His practice is 50% outpatient (primary care) and 50% inpatient (hospitalist). He is in clinic two days per week currently. He is chair of the Sky Lakes Medication Use and Infection Control Committee and serves on the Sky Lakes Medical Executive Committee. During medical school and residency, He served on multiple commissions for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and was a delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates.

Dr. Peters’ special interests include gender-affirming care (including hormone therapy), substance use disorders (including suboxone management), point-of-care ultrasound, procedures, and end-of-life care.

He currently offers the following procedures in clinic:
– Vasectomy
– Circumcision
– Dermatologic procedures (punch biopsy, shave biopsy, cyst removal, excisions)
– Toenail removal
– Joint injections (knee, shoulder, AC joint, trigger finger)

Outside work, Dr. Peters enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He stays active mountain biking, downhill skiing, backcountry skiing, cross country skiing, hiking, running, and swimming. He also enjoys cooking and baking and has recently endeavored on a home garden with his wife.
