Dr. Charles Park is a board-certified general surgeon who is committed to listening and caring for his patients’ surgical needs with compassion and respect for their whole person and family.
Dr. Park’s journey to Klamath Falls encompassed a wide range of educational, work and life experiences. He studied history as an undergraduate at Yale University (CT) and worked in public interest law and legislative politics, taught English in West Africa, and studied piano at a music conservatory in Italy before embarking on a career in medicine at the Brown University School of Medicine (RI), completing his general surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati (OH) in 2011.
After completing his training, Dr. Park worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (MA) as a general surgeon for four years. He then went to Malawi, Africa, one of the ten poorest countries in the world, to lead a global surgery initiative for the last ten years, actively training Malawian clinicians and senior surgical residents from five different U.S. academic programs to perform safe, broad based general surgery in a low resource environment.
Dr. Park’s clinical interest is to help ensure quality, efficient surgical care for our rural community: to address suspected cancers of the skin, thyroid, breast, or intestine; wound care management; hernias in children and adults; inflammatory bowel conditions; perianal concerns; and the full breadth of emergency surgical conditions and care of the injured patient.
