07 Mar Alexis’ Story
As one, we rise.
As one, we achieve.
When Alexis moved to Klamath Falls, she didn’t know where she fit in. Then, a teacher introduced her to a program that would change everything. She got hands-on experience, met mentors who saw something in her, and found a path forward. Now in college, she’s working toward becoming a nurse—proof of what’s possible when someone opens a door at the right time.
Alexis wasn’t sure where she belonged when she moved to Klamath Falls before her junior year of high school. A new school, new faces—she kept her head down and focused on getting through. But then a teacher noticed her, introduced her to the Health Occupations program, and everything shifted.
“When I moved to Klamath Falls… I realized I had a lot of opportunity and I wanted to be a part of that.”
That introduction led to hands-on experience at Sky Lakes, shadowing professionals in different departments, seeing what hospital work was really like. At first, she wasn’t sure where she fit in. But with each shift, each conversation, each moment of learning, the future started to take shape.
Alexis didn’t just participate—she committed. She worked, studied, and took every chance to push herself further. As a first-generation college student, she knew she was stepping into something new for her family. But instead of backing away, she leaned in.

Now in college, she’s on her way to becoming a nurse, with dreams of one day working alongside the people who helped her get started. Her mentors opened the doors, and Alexis walked right through them.
“I’m most excited about being able to care for people; to bring them the comfort and satisfaction of knowing I helped them”
