Surgeon Dr. Marc Orlando is joining Sky Lakes Medical Center. Effective March 1, Orlando's surgery practice will officially become part of the Sky Lakes family. While it was not a decision he made lightly, Orlando said it was the best decision for himself and his family, to continue his work in the community. "The decision was made on many levels," Orlando said. The main reason for the move is to continue his practice in Klamath Falls, instead of moving elsewhere for a new job, he explained. "From my standpoint, this is the greatest place to work, period," he said.
Orlando was born in Salem, earned his undergraduate degree at Oregon State University, before attending medical school at Oregon Health and Science University. He left Oregon for his residency program in Des Moines at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, but came to Klamath Falls following his residency 14 years ago. He started his private general surgery practice about 12 years ago, he said. Orlando and his family always knew they wanted to "put down roots and resettle in Oregon," and while he loved the Willamette Valley, it was a bit too rainy for his liking. Klamath Falls was instead the perfect location for him, he said. "This was our first choice and it seems to have worked out well," Orlando said.
Orlando announced his partnership with Sky Lakes with a letter to colleagues earlier this month. "... After considerable deliberation and in consultation with medical center leadership, I concluded that transitioning from a solo practice to the Sky Lakes organization was the next logical choice in my long-term desire to remain an active member of our medical community for the foreseeable future," he wrote in the letter. "I look forward to this new phase of my medical career, and continued heart-felt relations with the medical staff."
Orlando's offices will remain at 3000 Bryant Williams Drive, Suite 220, with the new name of Marc D. Orlando, M.D., F.A.C.S., Sky Lakes General Surgery. Phone and fax numbers for the office will remain the same, 541-850-2032 for the office and 541-884-3673 for fax.
