The Child Abuse Prevention Coalition of Klamath County is hosting a multidisciplinary professional training symposium at Oregon Tech later this month. The symposium, Understanding Sexual Assault, Trauma, Recovery, and Prevention will be an in-person all-day event held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 and Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
The symposium will cover sensitive topics and contain graphic content.
Members of the Oregon Tech Applied Psychology and the Marriage and Family Therapy Departments at OIT have partnered with the Department of Human Services and Klamath-Lake CARES to provide educational resources to help prevent child abuse and abuse-related trauma. The event’s keynote speaker is Cory Jewell Jensen, a senior trainer for CBI Consulting who has 35 years of experience in sexual abuse prevention.
Breakout topics at the symposium may include self-care, grief and loss, human trafficking, and adult recovery from childhood sexual abuse, and grooming.
