Klamath welcomes two infants at start of the new year

Newborn Leeland Micheal Utley arrived at 3:14 a.m. on Jan. 1, the first baby born at Klamath Birth Center, 1900 Main St., in 2015. Leeland weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 21 1/4 inches, and was born to Tim Utley and Kerala Vado, of Sprague River. Tim Utley and staff at the Klamath Birth Center, including Certified Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner Jeanne Stagner, were present for the birth. Leeland is the 17th grandchild of Dennis and Linda Utley, of Chiloquin. He is also the grandson of Leela Alvarez, of Sprague River. "He is just beautiful, he's adorable," Linda Utley said.

Keylan Alexander Janes-Ortega, who weighed 7 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces, and measured 20 1/2 inches, was born to Katrine Janes.

First baby of 2015 born at Sky Lakes Medical Center, Keylan Alexander Janes-Ortega was the first baby born in 2015 at Sky Lakes Medical Center on Thursday at 11:09 p.m. Thursday. Keylan Alexander Janes-Ortega, who weighed 7 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces, and measured 20 1/2 inches, was born to Katrine Janes. His grandmother, Laurena Guerra, held him Friday afternoon at the medical center as the baby's mother rested. "His mom, she's beautiful," Guerra said. "She did such a good job."
