Sky Lakes Medical Center leads the region in Computerized Tomography (CT), a highly advanced, non-invasive procedure.
CT combines X-rays and leading-edge computer technology. The hospital’s CT scanners can build colorized inside-out pictures of organs and internal structures.
Our hospital-based CT scanner is located on the first floor near Emergency Services. Another CT scanner is located at our Outpatient Imaging, 2900 Daggett Ave.
CT scans are quick, high-tech tools for looking inside your body without surgery. CT scans create two-dimensional cross-section images of your body.
Specially trained doctors closely examine these images to find abnormalities that may not show up on an ordinary X-ray. CT scans are particularly useful in evaluating the brain, spine, chest, abdomen and pelvis.
Here's what you can expect in your CT scan:
- CT scanners use multiple low-dose X-rays taken in rapid succession.
- A wide tube rotates around you, while you lie still on a table.
- Detectors pick up X-rays that pass through you.
- Computers process the information and create images that radiologists examine to aid in diagnosing your condition.
