The Sky Lakes Medical Center cancer program is a recipient of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer 2004 Outstanding Achievement Award, a three-year approval with commendation.
The award to cancer program, headquartered at the SLMC Cancer Treatment Center, is the only one of its kind in Oregon and one of only 39 nationwide.
Established in 1922, the Commission on Cancer sets standards for quality and cancer patient care, evaluates compliance with 36 national standards, and develops ways to improve cancer care outcomes.
Receiving care at a commission-approved cancer program ensures that patients will have access to:
Comprehensive care and a range of modern services and equipment,
A multi-specialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options,
Information about ongoing clinical trails and new treatment options,
And, most importantly, quality care close to home.
