The QuiltYou’ll notice quilts throughout the Cancer Treatment Center. We chose quilts for our unofficial symbol of care because of how they come together and what they do: They are made of smaller pieces assembled into something better. Quilts help comfort us.
In the same way, the people of the Klamath Basin came together to help us build the Cancer Treatment Center, where a collection of highly trained staff deliver care with compassion and dignity for cancer patients and their families.
We take great pride in providing that care in a comfortable facility.
Composed of granite and plexiglass, the 300-pound sculpture by artist Martha H. Morgan dominates one wall in our waiting area. The sculpture mimics the design of fabric quilts that decorate the Cancer Treatment Center.
A high-intensity laser was used to etch the names of more than 4,000 donors to the Cancer Treatment Center in the piece’s elements. The Cancer Treatment Center would not exist without the strength of the community supporting it.
Just as fabric is stronger than the threads that comprise it, and a quilt is warmer than the pieces of fabric that go into it, our community is better because of the work of the people who had the foresight, dedication and generosity to build and expand this community’s Cancer Treatment Center.
