New Technology Increases Communication

May 20, 2008

“We have much better communication,” Tanja Mahoney, nursing staff supervisor, said.  “It takes 40 seconds instead of four minutes to get to a desk phone.  The nurse can call her (assistant) for equipment, and she doesn’t have to leave the patient’s side.”

She finds the new building more calming in its design.

“I walked in here and felt this was going to help us provide a better environment,” she said.  “Patients and staff, even though they’re busy, seem more calm.  We just come together in a very organized, calm way to provide the care.

Sky Lakes Medical Center measured patient satisfaction through surveys sent each month to 600 patients picked randomly who were served in the new area.
