Sky Lakes Medical Center

More Than a Building

February 16, 2008

I’ve never sent a comment to our local paper until now.  However, I feel compelled to do so.

After a serious accident, my ankle was cut to the bone and I was rushed to Sky Lakes Medical Center.  I was treated immediately and with the finest of care.  I wish to thank Aaron, Joey, Lisa and the many other RNs.  I am sorry I did not get all the names and those behind the scenes.

Also I would like to thank patient accounts.  I never got an automated operator.  There was always a devoted person, eager to help.

Thank you Dr. Kirschenmann, my anesthesiologist; Dr. Van Tassel, my surgeion and all the follow-up care at reasonable costs.

Three weeks after my accident, my wife had a heart problem.  The ER staff had her under care in 10 minutes.  Dr. Kubac was there in 15 minutes and took charge of her.  How do you thank that kind of dedication?  I can only say thank you.  I am humbled.  You make the world a better place.

I’ve learned that it takes more than a building; it takes the doctors, the RNs, the lab tech and all the people to meet the high standards I found.  So to all, I say thank you; well done.

My care was A-1 and, if I find myself in Medford and in need of care, I hope to get home and treated at Sky Lakes.
