Sky Lakes a Great Medical Facility

December 15, 2007

We have read the negative letters regarding Sky Lakes Medical Center.  After many years of adventures in hospitals, emergency rooms and doctors’ offices, here and elsewhere, we know we are blessed to have a great medical facility in our small community.  We have taken advantage of the medical services here many times and have high regard for our medical professionals and recent experiences beg comment.

When people say negative things about a hospital, I think their feelings are naturally colored because the experience is daunting and scary; we fear for our loved ones and lack knowledge about what is happening or what will happen next.

We had two positive emergency room experiences recently.  The staff, including nurses Kacie, Brady and Ms. Schrader, were kind, caring and efficient.  During the second visit we had the same wonderful nurses and Dr. Mitchell barely left the room.  He is an excellent diagnostician, very thorough, and informative.  I am sure a life was saved that morning.

Upstairs, the care is also professional and caring.  The parade of ICU nurses, Bob, Barbara, Stan, Linda, others whose names I sadly do not remember, also had the opportunity to perform miracles.  I don’t want to forget Kevin, Luke and the others in telemetry.  Our regular docs shall go unnamed as they know who they are and they are terrific.

During the time at Sky Lakes, I cam to appreciate the beauty of the new construction.  The stairs are where people can see them instead of tucked behind the elevators.  Hopefully visitors and staff will become and remain healthy by using them.  What a wonderful concept in a hospital.  When a family member spends a lot of stressful time in a hospital, how nice it is to see something visually attractive and be treated so humanely.

Thank you, Sky Lakes Medical Center.
