Lab Services  

Your doctor can learn a great deal about you and your condition by the results of tests on your blood or other cells, or special examinations of small tissue slices and the like.

 

Sky Lakes Medical Center's Laboratory provides a wide range of routine and advanced diagnostic tests promoting patient and community health. Lab professionals work with area physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality patient care through the pathology and clinical laboratory diagnostic and blood bank services.

 

Besides our main service center at the hospital, we have satellite Lab Patient Service Centers at Klamath Radiology Associates, 2900 Daggett Ave.; Cascades East Family Practice Center; the Medical Office Building, 1401 Bryant Williams Drive, and at 2680 Uhrmann Road, between the main campus and the Cancer Treatment Center.

 

Nationally accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Sky Lakes Medical Center's laboratory service is among the best in the region.

 

Current diagnostic tests include:
    Bacteriology
    Cytology
    Endocrinology
    General Immunology
    Hematology
    Histopathology (including frozen sections, and HPV testing)
    Myclology
    Parasitology
    Syphilis Serology
    Toxicology (including drugs of abuse and therapeutic drugs)
    Flu testing


 

Blood transfusion services include:
    ABO and RH group
    Antibody detection, transfusion and non-transfusion
    Antibody ID
    Blood product
    Compatibility testing


 

An FDA-approved method to screen for cervical cancer, the Tri-Path liquid-based Pap test, is available to area physicians from Sky Lakes Medical Center's Laboratory Services. This sophisticated test generally replaces an earlier method as a way to search for signs of cervical cancer in women.

 

Clinical lab services are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hours for the pathology area are weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with pathologists on-call after hours.
