Doctor Honored With Local Humanitarian Award
January, 4, 2009
Sky Lakes Medical Center leadership, physicians and others recently honored Klamath Falls anesthesiologist Dr. Henry C. Louderbough with the third annual Sky Lakes Medical Center Humanitarian Award.
The purpose of the award is to bring public recognition to an individual's extraordinary humanitarian endeavors, said medical center president and chief executive officer Paul Stewart.
"Dr. Louderbough is one of those very generous, very caring individuals in our community who gives unselfishly to make the world a better place," Stewart said in a tribute to Louderbough. "He gives his time and talent and resources to help people here at home and all over the world, always doing his best, and always with class."
A donation was made to the anesthesia department of Health Volunteers Overseas in Dr. Louderbough's name.
Since arriving in Klamath Falls in 1989, Louderbough has served as volunteer faculty for the anesthesia departments for the University of California at San Francisco and Oregon Health Sciences University. He also has made multiple trips to East Africa on volunteer missions.
"His teaching career has led him to the other side of the world - Uganda and Tanzania - six trips in all," Stewart said. "He was raised learning through church, family and school that on-going altruistic service was part of leading a moral life."
